1.Awareness campaign against pan chewing, smoking and alcohol consumption is a necessity for each and every persons in all the ward of Kuravilangad grama panchayath.

2.In ward 11 spitting on the road is less, but the awareness campaign is needed all over the panchayatrh.

3.In ward 4,9,10,12 the use of toilet is not 100% , and hence the awareness is necessary for the use of toilets.

4.The use of urinals also is not 100% in the panchayath and an awareness campaign is a must and the panchayath have to create rules related to it.

5.Intake of medicine without prescription is high in the wards 10,4,6,9,11 and 7 and all the other wards also needed awareness about this.

6. Least ‘personal cleanliness’ is in ward 10 and 4,9,13 and 1 are close to that level. In ward 8 the personal  cleanliness level is high but not fully attained. So the awareness for personal cleanliness needed in each and every ward.

7.An eye testing and treatment is necessary in the panchayath, expecially in the ward 5,7 and 4 ,where the use of spectacles is high.

8.Nap sleep on day is high in ward 10 and an average of 8% is having the habit of regular nap sleeping on the day.

9.In ward 10, 84% is having the habit of watching T.V. regularly. 9, 2, 7 are near to them and an average of 63% of the population is having the practice of watching T.V regularly. This area also needed proper awareness.

10.Fitness practicing level is very high in ward 2 and below 14% of the population is having regular walking. There should be a programme for fitness and awareness campaign for regular fitness practices and regular walking in all wards of the panchayat.

11.In ward 12, 11 and 4 Diabetes is high and an average of 21% of the people are suffering from diabetes. A special package of health maintenance training for diabetic people is needed in the panchayath especially in ward 12,11, and 4.

12.Proper awareness for the disposal of the waste in the source itself and give support for the residence to construct the eco-friendly waste disposal methods like wormy compost, bio-gas plant and other methods of waste disposal to prevent the communicable diseases like dengue, chikunguniya, viral fever, etc. Regular monitoring will also be needed for the system.

CONCLUSION

Improving quality of life style and accessing health require systematic life styles and habits. Both of these are achieved by education, awareness and training to a greater extent. Under the era of decentralized governance in Kerala this can be achieved through a pre determined work plan by utilizing manpower.  All these are in papers alone and this need to be changed. Technology up-gradation as well as digital and e media have a great role in shaping and changing life style of a population. Socio economic background also change accordingly. With a clear policy on awareness to rural population with respect to health and hygiene that diffuses at all levels is the requirement  noticed in the present study. Reduction of morbidity, both chronic and communicable, better infrastructure, drinking water, sanitation, drainage, environmental cleanliness must be maintained and provided at all levels. PHCs and government support to achieve this, found to be insufficient and also the monitoring of their work is not practiced to day.  Thus a monitoring cell to  be organized with both public and private participation to evaluate and check the working of PHCs and other organization functioning in the field  and to co-ordinate their activities is essentially needed..
